YOUR ORDER MAY TAKE A LITTLE LONGER TO GET TO YOU THAN NORMAL, BUT WE PROMISE IT WILL BE WORTH THE WAIT

Celebrating International Women's Day

“CLOTHES AREN’T GOING TO CHANGE THE WORLD, THE WOMEN THAT WEAR THEM WILL” – Anne Klein

Similar to the planet, women have to put up with a lot.

This is why at MoP we are taking part in our Creative Director’s social media campaign, #FASHIONOURFUTURE that pledges to love your wardrobe and the planet – and the women who roam it of course, to celebrate International Women’s Day.

Each of our pledges are inspired by women who are working towards the same goal – making small changes in our own lives in hopes of triggering a bigger change.

Taking a #FASHIONOURFUTURE pledge as a team may be a small step, but we believe in inspiration of all size…

See below the MoP team’s pledges and who inspired them…

I am challenging myself to take on all the pledges in this campaign! I know I’m very lucky, as I have my brand where I make clothes to these pledge standards and keep looking forward at the next thing I can improve. I see sustainability as an opportunity to look into ways of doing things differently to make a difference- which is what this campaign is all about!

Which woman in your life inspired you to take this pledge and why?

My daughter, I have not only launched my new baby #fashionourfuture but I also gave birth to my baby girl just 6 weeks ago so! I have decided I’m going to make sure she becomes all of these pledges too. I pledge to ensure I rent like a rent-girl, buy second hand like an OAP - and make sure anything new is passed on. I will be sharing my journey on how it’s going on my Instagram. in this picture, she is pledging to be ‘cottoned on’ in GOTS organic cotton blanket she is also supporting the ‘are you fur real?’ pledge in a non mulesed wool bonnet! I’m supporting a very tired but very excited haze for this project and the love of being a new mum. I hope everyone makes a pledge as if we all come together we can make a big change!

Jil Carrara, #FashionOurFuture Social Media Manager and Rent-Girl

I am taking the Rent Girl pledge – I rarely buy anything new unless it’s a quality staple that I’ll keep forever, so if I need anything for a special event or a holiday, I will be renting!

Sounds cliché, but my mom! She’s always been a huge advocate for owning a capsule, no frills wardrobe and has always either worn items she already had for events or borrowed from friends. Growing up I never owned any fancy dresses (still don’t!) but always borrowed from her or her friends. If me or my sister had a special occasion to dress up for, she would literally call in dresses from her friends like a stylist would and we’d have a little bedroom fashion show. Now that I live abroad, I find myself borrowing from other people’s closets via rental platforms - my boyfriend is not super into the home fashion shows I put on though.

I’m a TreeHugger!

Jane Goodall is a true pioneer… when she decided to become a scientist, she said she was often laughed at and dismissed as “just a girl”. Seeing how influential she was back in the 1960s to today and how her work has helped protect animals and forests all over the world has inspired me to make the small change of making sure any new viscose piece I buy is responsibly sourced, to do my bit and help protect our precious forests.

Sally Burlison, Marketing Director and Over-Sharer

What FashionOurFuture pledge are you doing?

I’m taking the Over Sharer pledge. I love the idea of having a uniform of quality pieces that you can rewear time and time again, with the added bonus of reducing the time spent thinking “what am I going to wear?” each morning. Anything that gives me an extra 5 minutes in bed AND helps me be more sustainable is a winner in my book.

My Granny inspired me to take this pledge. She had a capsule wardrobe before it was even a thing and would rewear items over and over again without ever being boring or predictable. I’m going to over share and over wear the clothes I’ve already got in my wardrobe and if I do need anything, I’ll try to choose vintage or buy from brands with craftsmanship and ethics at the heart of what they do, helping to make my wardrobe even more long lasting and over-shareable!

Jessie Graham, Social Media & Digital Content Manager and OAP

What FashionOurFuture pledge are you doing?

I took the OAP pledge – I love fashion and feel that there is more to explore in vintage! I wanted a change from the same old high street experience – shop less and value it more!

Which woman in your life inspired you to take this pledge and why?

Dana Thomas and her book, ‘Fashionopolis’ inspired me to take this pledge. Her work as a journalist has always moved me but her particular narrative in this book really made me question my own consumption habits and how they are impacting the lives of other women in places outside my normal scope when I think of the cities where fashion takes place…. I believe that pledging to buy vintage is a small step towards easing the exploitation of these unseen fashion workers. I want to regain a healthy, long-term commitment relationship with my wardrobe.

Chloe Marks, Brand Manager and Feminist

What FashionOurFuture pledge are you doing?

I’m doing the feminist pledge – which means buying from brands that pay fair wages and are transparent about their supply chain.

Which woman in your life inspired you to take this pledge and why?

Every woman I’ve ever worked with, specifically when it comes to supply chains – I started as a product developer and worked with women in factories on a daily basis and it really showed me how hard they work which inspired me to see feminism as an all-woman issue – not just the ones directly a part of my day to day life… this is why it is so important for me to buy from brands with a transparent supply chain, and to support ALL women in the industry.
