Our mission at Mother of Pearl is to deliver beautiful clothes without compromising on integrity. But what happens next? With 300,000 metric tons of textiles being binned in the UK every year, we know that more needs to be done to help reduce the impact of fashion on the planet and close the loop.

That's why we’ve joined forces with rental platform Onloan, to extend the life cycle of our clothes by giving all our customers the ability to rent their favourite Mother of Pearl pieces. Integrating rental directly onto our platform is a UK industry first, and together we have created The Full Circle.

It’s shocking to learn that the average number of times a garment is worn before being discarded has decreased by 36%, compared to 15 years ago. The Full Circle breaks the traditional linear retail model and takes into consideration a garment’s entire lifecycle. Through our sustainable and ethical supply chain to Onloan’s rental and pre-loved solutions, every stage of a garment’s life is considered, and our Mother of Pearl pieces get more wear than they would exclusively in one wardrobe.

Key to the partnership is the ability to “Try Before You Buy”, giving you the opportunity to road test garments before purchasing. Plus, if you’ve fallen in love with your rented item and decide you want to keep it, we’ll discount the rental fee off the price when you purchase. Win win.

MOP always wants to be there for its customer’s important life moments - but sustainably. The Full Circle allows for these moments to be celebrated, without the purchasing guilt. By renting you are able to enjoy items that signify a moment in your life or mood but may not have a place in your forever wardrobe. Instead, these items will then be rented and rented again for others to enjoy.
