We can’t wait for all of our Pearly Queens to watch our trailblazing Creative Director Amy Powney on her mission to create a sustainable collection from field to finished garment and transform the way we engage with fashion.

"A film that every fashion lover - and every fashion brand - needs to see"

- Anna Murphy, THE TIMES

ABOUT THE FILM

Our creative director Amy Powney is a rising star in the London fashion scene. Raised off-the-grid in rural England by activist parents, Amy has always felt uneasy about the devastating environmental impact of her industry. When she wins the coveted Vogue award for the Best Young Designer of the Year, which comes with a big cash prize, Amy decides to use the money to create a sustainable collection from field to finished garment, and transform her entire business. Over the following three years, her own personal revolution becomes the precursor of a much bigger, societal change.

THE TEAM

Amy’s journey was followed by an incredible team for three years, after director Becky Hutner heard Amy’s plans for using the prize fund to create a fully sustainable collection.

Directed by Becky Hutner, FASHION REIMAGINED was produced by Duck Productions in association with the BFI Doc Society, Sustainable Films and Cedar Creek Productions.

"Beautiful, informative, shocking and inspiring... Amy Powney is a heroine"

- Lisa Armstrong, THE DAILY TELEGRAPH

THE STORY CONTINUES...

Fashion Reimagined follows Amy's journey creating Mother of Pearl's first fully sustainable collection, No Frills, which launched in 2018 and now forms our Core Collection.

But No Frills was just the start of our journey to put people and planet at the forefront of every choice we make at Mother of Pearl. Everything we learned from creating No Frills - a transparent supply chain; organic, best practice natural materials; and a socially responsible ethos - has been infiltrated through the entire Mother of Pearl collection.

Since our Pre AW21 collection, 100% of the materials used have been responsible, with best practice natural fibres such as organic cotton, wool and botanic fibres such as TENCEL™ branded lyocell fibres making up the vast majority of our collections.

We are committed to tracing our entire supply chain and not only have we evolved how we make our collections, but also our entire design process. We consider the supply chain and production footprint from the outset and ensure we are designing beautiful, timeless styles that will become firm favourites in your forever wardrobe.

And our work hasn't stopped. We are constantly analysing our ways of working to ensure we remain at the helm of the sustainable world. Discover more about Mother of Pearl's sustainability journey.
